Santa Maria Valley Chamber holds annual awards gala

The City of Santa Maria recognized its community Thursday with its annual awards gala.

Members of the Chamber of Commerce hosted the event at the Marian Theatre at Allan Hancock College.

Organizers believe this is a great way to recognize those who go the extra mile for the City of Santa Maria.

Ambassador of the year winner, Erika Weber, says she is humble and honored for the recognition.

“When I see there is a need somewhere and somebody is having a fundraiser on the street corner to raise money for someone whose family is going through a terrible time, these are the people that I see there,” Weber said. “They are supporting or giving donations or having that bbq. I don’t see the community being what it is today without these leaders.”

Eight different people were recognized Thursday night for their outstanding performances within the community.

Other awards were handed out to:

Tourism Partner of the Year: Cottonwood Canyon Vineyard & Winery
Young Professional of the Year: Carlos Escobedo
Non-Profit of the Year: Boys & Girls Clubs of the Central Coast
Robert F. Grogan Public Service Award: Dr. Mark Richardson
Robert P. Hatch Citizens of the Year: Hardy & Judy Hearn
Small Business of the Year: Jack’s All American Plumbing
Large Business of the Year: Babé Farms
