Fire breaks out in Salinas Riverbed in Paso Robles

Firefighters responded to a brush fire that broke out Monday evening in the Salinas Riverbed in Paso Robles.

The fire was reported at around 6 p.m. near Highway 46 East.

Just last week, Paso Robles city leaders decided to declare a public safety emergency and allocate more than $300,000 to work on reducing the risk of fires in the riverbed.

City Manager Thomas Frutchey told KSBY there have been at least 63 fires in the Salinas Riverbed since the beginning of 2019.
