UPDATE: Fire burns 120 acres in Big Sur area

UPDATE (5:05 p.m.) – The Mill Fire, burning in the Big Sur area of the Los Padres National Forest, has burned 120 acres. There is no containment at this time.

Forest Service officials say there are 250 firefighters assigned to the fire.

No structures are threatened, and no evacuations have been ordered.

Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd. remains closed.


UPDATE (3:43 p.m.) – Forest Service officials say the Mill Fire in Big Sur has burned approximately 50 acres.

It broke out off Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd. Tuesday about 3-5 miles above Highway 1.

The road is closed so firefighters can access the area safely.


(12:46 p.m.) – A wildfire broke out Tuesday morning in the Big Sur area of the Los Padres National Forest.

It is reportedly burning in the Kirk Creek Campground area, which is between Gorda and Lucia.

Nacimiento-Fergusson Road was closed as a result of the fire.

Forest Service officials said few details were immediately available because of the remoteness of the fire.

This is a developing story and will be updated with new information as it becomes available.
