Five Cities falls to Hawaii in marquee matchup, 2-0

The Five Cities 14U youth baseball team suffered its first loss of the Babe Ruth Pacific Southwest Regional in a rematch of the 2018 championship with Iolani, Hawaii, 2-0 on Wednesday night at Soto Sports Complex in Arroyo Grande.

Hawaii plated its runs in the fourth and sixth innings, both coming without hits. Five Cites allowed just two hits to Hawaii’s offense.

Five Cities had plenty of chances to score throughout the game, but Hawaii’s pitching and defense were able to shut out the All-Stars for the first time this tournament.

While Hawaii continues its journey in the championship bracket, Five Cities moves to the second chance bracket in the double-elimination format.

Five Cities will face Lodi of Central California at noon on Thursday.
